Smoked Fish
“These pastel, oil paint, and acrylic artworks featuring fish enjoying a smoke delicately intertwine humor with deeper cultural reflections. Its significance in contemporary American culture stems from its ability to gently challenge norms while embracing individual expression and countercultural themes within art. This piece invites dialogue about freedom, perception, and evolving societal attitudes by playfully blending whimsy and cultural commentary. Its remarkable quality lies in its thought-provoking nature and its universal charm – the undeniable ability to consistently bring a smile to those who encounter it, thereby illustrating the inclusive and joyous side of artistic exploration within our cultural mosaic.”

How it began…
“2021, I started my first year at Savannah College of Art and Design. I was sitting in my freshman DRAW 100 class, daydreaming and sketching a beta fish during gesture review. The class erupted with laughter when someone’s drawing looked like a kid smoking a blunt. I smiled as the artist argued that it was supposed to be chapstick. I smiled and decided that would be the perfect thing to add to my sketch: Raspberry Haze. Since then, I have continued the series over 2 years around school and work. I can't tell you how amazing it is watching people smile when they see my work.”
